Oman signs pact to supply green fuel to ships

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport. Communications and Information Technology signed an agreement for the project to establish Oman’s first integrated green methanol production facility.

It will be a Public-Private Partnership to develop an integrated centre for the production and supply of green methanol in Dhofar Governorate.

This strategic objective will strengthen the Sultanate of Oman's position as a leading regional hub for supplying carbon-free fuel to ships.

The project will add value to the economy, enhancing Oman’s logistics competitiveness in global markets.

It will increase annual contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provide quality job opportunities for Omanis.

It will further enhance commitment to net-zero emissions and carbon reduction and develop local supply chains by attracting long-term contracts for methanol fuel.
