
Muscat: The Omani Women Engineers Forum 2025 began on Monday in the Wilayat of Bausher, Governorate of Muscat.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.
The two-day forum is organised by the Omani Society of Engineers under the theme: "Engineering Across Generations".
The forum aims to highlight women engineers' outstanding role in domestic development, enhance communication across generations of engineers and exchange expertise with Arab partners about ways to develop the engineering sector in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The forum sees the participation of women engineers and women leaders from the Sultanate of Oman and Arab countries, representatives of the Federation of Arab Engineers, the Arab Women Engineers Committee and the Arab Council for Creativity and Innovation, in addition to academic and professional institutions and companies operating in the sectors of energy, communications, contracting and engineering services.
The forum includes a visual presentation about the accomplishments of Omani women engineers over the ages, in addition to 24 working papers covering different engineering topics and discussion panels about the role of women in keeping pace with global technological developments.
Generally, the forum aims to promote integration of academic knowledge with practical experience, as well as the grooming of a generation of male and female engineers who would be capable of leading the transition towards a more innovative and sustainable future in engineering.
