
Salalah: A team from the World Health Organization (WHO) on Sunday concluded its programme of assessment of the Wilayat of Salalah in Dhofar Governorate. The team's visit to the Wilayat aimed to study the extent to which lifestyles, environmental quality and community well-being comply with international standards set for the accreditation of healthy cities.
The visit programme included field tours of basic facilities, including the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, Al Dahariz Health Centre, the new Sultan Qaboos Hospital and the Unified Ambulance Centre.
The WHO team also took note of the initiatives and programmes of the Omani Women’s Association in Salalah that support the promotion of healthy life. In addition, the tour covered the sports walkway, Salalah Volunteers Team and Salalah Grand Mall.
The WHO assessment team stressed the importance of joint efforts by government departments and community institutions to improve the quality of life in Salalah so that it could be included in the Healthy Cities Network.
