Oman's Ministry concludes archaeological surveys and excavations in Nizwa

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with Japanese archaeological missions from the National Institutes for the Humanities and the Research, has concluded archaeological surveys and excavations at the Wadi Tanuf and Al-Ghabrah sites in Wilayat of Nizwa.

The fieldwork resulted in the discovery of a collection of beads and bone remains, in addition to the documentation of inscriptions written in the South Arabian script and several rock carvings, offering important insights into the historical and cultural significance of the sites.

As part of the project, a lecture titled “The Latest Archaeological Discoveries from the Wadi Tanuf Archaeological Site”was delivered, highlighting the key findings of the survey and excavation works and discussing the archaeological implications of the discoveries recorded at the site.

The collaboration reflects the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism’s continued efforts to strengthen international research partnerships and preserve Oman’s rich archaeological heritage through scientific documentation and field exploration.
