
Muscat: The total number of passengers travelling through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman by the end of December 2025 rose by 2.8 percent to reach 14,939,209 passengers, compared to 14,537,674 passengers during the same period in 2024.
According to data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the total number of incoming and outgoing flights through Oman’s airports stood at 104,510 flights by the end of December 2025, compared to 107,546 flights in 2024, marking a decline of 2.8 percent.
At Muscat International Airport, international flights reached 82,913 by the end of December 2025, compared to 86,797 flights in 2024, a decrease of 4.5 percent. However, the number of passengers on international flights increased by 1.3 percent to 11,838,223 passengers, compared to 11,681,790 passengers in the previous year.
Domestic flights at Muscat International Airport recorded notable growth, rising to 9,606 flights compared to 9,009 flights in 2024, an increase of 6.6 percent. The number of domestic passengers also surged by 12 percent to reach 1,319,336 passengers, up from 1,178,163 passengers.
At Salalah Airport, international flights slightly declined to 4,886 flights by the end of December 2025, compared to 5,008 flights in 2024, a decrease of 2.4 percent. Meanwhile, the number of international passengers reached 678,591 passengers, compared to 678,402 passengers a year earlier.
Domestic traffic at Salalah Airport saw strong growth, with flights increasing to 6,227 compared to 5,450 flights in 2024, representing a 14.3 percent rise. Passenger numbers on domestic flights also climbed significantly by 17.7 percent to 1,023,529 passengers, up from 869,954 passengers.
In contrast, Sohar Airport recorded a sharp decline in international traffic. International flights dropped to 110 flights compared to 495 flights in 2024, a decrease of 77.8 percent. Passenger numbers on these flights fell dramatically to 390 passengers from 44,897 passengers, marking a 99.1 percent decline.
Domestic flights at Sohar Airport also decreased to 150 flights compared to 165 flights in 2024, down by 9.1 percent. The number of domestic passengers declined by 21.8 percent to 18,247 passengers, compared to 23,331 passengers the previous year.
At Duqm Airport, domestic flights reached 618 by the end of December 2025, compared to 622 flights in 2024, reflecting a slight decrease of 0.6 percent. Passenger numbers also recorded a marginal decline of 0.4 percent to 60,893 passengers, compared to 61,137 passengers.
The Centre noted that these indicators highlight the ongoing development of travel and movement through Oman’s airports, underscoring their role in supporting economic and tourism activity and enhancing both domestic and international air connectivity.
