Muscat: As the sun slips behind the rugged mountains of Barr Al Jissah and the sky softens into hues of amber and rose, a gentle sea breeze carries the promise of iftar.
Along Muscat’s dramatic coastline, Layali Ramadan at Hilton Muscat Al Bandar unfolds not within walls, but beneath an open sky — where tradition, taste and togetherness meet the rhythm of the waves.
This is Ramadan reimagined.
On the hotel’s lush lawn, lanterns glow against the twilight while long tables stretch toward the shoreline.
Families gather, friends reconnect and colleagues pause from the pace of daily life. The setting itself feels symbolic — open, expansive, and unhurried — inviting guests to experience the Holy Month in a space shaped by light, air and reflection.
A Culinary Story of Craft and Culture
Marking its first Ramadan under Hilton management, the resort introduces a renewed culinary direction led by Executive Chef Gurkan Gozyilmaz.
His philosophy is simple yet deliberate: honour tradition while elevating it with craftsmanship and contemporary finesse. “This is taking the iftar experience to a whole new level and making it a gourmet affair,” he says — and the buffet reflects that ambition.
Live grill stations sizzle with prime cuts of meat and freshly prepared seafood. Wagyu beef shawarma turns slowly, carved to order. Traditional fatteh and fragrant rice dishes sit alongside freshly baked tandoor breads and an abundant selection of oriental mezze. The dessert counters are a celebration in themselves — Levantine classics and international sweets presented with artistry and indulgence.
At Al Tanoor, guests can choose between the elegant indoor dining space or the open-air sablah, where the sound of the sea becomes part of the experience.
Soulful live melodies drift across the lawn, creating a backdrop that feels both intimate and expansive. “We are introducing new savoury collections this Ramadan with diverse options to ensure an authentic experience. With chefs from across the world, our Iftar selections combine unique flavours from Oman, the Middle East and beyond. Guests can dine while enjoying soulful melodies against a perfect backdrop,” Matthew Mullan, General Manager for Hilton Muscat, Barr Al Jissah Resort, said.
Beyond Iftar: A Shoreline Suhoor
As night deepens, the mood shifts. The beachfront transforms into a tranquil haven for Suhoor. Inspired by Arabic Omani tent-style décor, the setting invites quiet conversation and reflection before dawn. Individual guests may opt for an à la carte Suhoor, while larger gatherings of 40 or more can enjoy buffet-style arrangements by the sea.
The sense of space is striking. Unlike traditional enclosed venues, the open beachfront offers privacy without confinement — an increasingly valued luxury during Ramadan gatherings.
A Landmark Renewed
Part of the iconic Barr Al Jissah destination, the property has been a landmark in Muscat for over two decades, now part of Hilton. Today, under its new identity, the resort blends familiarity with fresh perspective.
Located just 20 minutes from the city, it feels worlds away — a retreat where ocean horizons replace city skylines and the Holy Month is experienced with calm and clarity.
For individual guests, Iftar is priced at OMR 25 net per person, with children under six years of age dining complimentary and those aged six to 11 receiving a 50 per cent discount. Group Iftar packages begin from OMR 20 net per person, while Suhoor starts from OMR 15 net per person.
But beyond the numbers, Layali Ramadan here is about atmosphere — about the pause between sunset and the first sip of water, about shared plates and shared stories, about tradition carried forward in a setting that feels both timeless and new.
This Ramadan, under the twinkling night sky and beside the endless sea, Hilton Muscat Al Bandar invites guests not just to dine — but to gather, reflect and belong.
