
A’Rustaq,--- The Governorate of South Al Batinah recorded a total production of 12.4 thousand kilograms of local honey during the 2025 season.
According to the statistics provided by the Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in the governorate, the production included 7,136.5 kilograms of Samar honey, 5,097.5 kilograms of Sidr honey, and 200 kilograms of other varieties, with a total value exceeding RO 186.5.
The wilayats of South Al Batinah Governorate are renowned for their long-standing traditions in beekeeping and honey production. These wilayats are distinguished by diverse types of honey, including Sidr, Samar, and various floral honeys, reflecting the environmental richness and diversity of the region. The suitable climate and abundant natural resources contribute significantly to the high quality of the honey, making it highly sought after both in local and international markets.
Ali Salim Al Fulaiti, Head of the Bee Section at the General Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in South Al Batinah Governorate, stated that the Directorate is continuing its diligent efforts to support beekeepers and bolster the honey industry in the governorate. This is achieved through the organization of marketing exhibitions aimed at opening new commercial outlets for honey producers, encouraging them to improve their presentation and marketing processes, and providing consumers with the opportunity to closely familiarize themselves with various honey types.
He added that the Directorate implements supervisory programs and field visits intended to support beekeepers, enhance production quality, and provide necessary technical consultations. These initiatives contribute to strengthening the local economy and reflect the Sultanate of Oman's strategic direction to develop the beekeeping and honey products sector.
