
Muscat: Oman’s production of natural gas, including local production and imports, witnessed an increase of 1.3 percent, reaching 8.76 billion cubic metres by the end of February 2026 compared to 8.65 billion cubic metres during the same period in 2025.
Data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that associated gas production decreased by 8.5 percent by the end of February 2026, reaching 1.825 billion cubic metres, compared to 1.994 billion cubic metres during the same period of 2025.
In contrast, non-associated gas production (including imports) increased by 4.3 percent to reach 694 billion cubic metres by the end of last February compared to 6.65 billion cubic metres by the end of February 2025.
Natural gas consumption in industrial projects increased by 6.2 percent to reach 4.87 billion cubic metres by the end of February 2026 compared to 4.59 billion cubic metres for the same period in 2025.
Gas consumption in power generation plants also increased by 13.2 percent reaching 2.25 billion cubic metres by the end of February 2026 compared to 1.99 billion cubic metres in the same period of 2025.
The data further showed that gas consumption in oil fields (including losses, meter differences and shrinkage factor) decreased by 20.8 percent to reach 1.6 billion cubic metres by the end of February 2026 compared to 2.19 billion cubic metres in the same period of 2025.
Gas used in industrial units (including industrial areas, Oman Mining Company and Oman Cement) recorded a decrease of 29.9 percent to reach 31.6 million cubic metres by the end of February 2026 compared to 45.1 million cubic metres during the same period in 2025.
