Two whales observed in Masirah Governorate

Muscat: The Environment Authority has documented two whales in an active feeding state in Masirah  Island .

A new field survey from the Environment Center in Masirah Governorate documents the vital activity of humpback whales in the "First Sector" northeast of the island, where two whales were recorded in an active feeding state, as part of ongoing environmental monitoring efforts and tracking of endangered species.

This monitoring confirms the high ecological importance of the area as:

-A major feeding ground for whales and turtles
-A rich and integrated ecosystem
- A highly sensitive marine area that combines migration and feeding routes making it a focal point for biodiversity.

Strengthening the scientific database for this marine area reflects the field efforts of the Environment Authority in protecting wildlife, and confirms that northeast Masirah is a strategic area that requires continued monitoring and protection of this unique diversity.
