Cardiff university programme launched at Gulf College in Oman

Muscat: Gulf College yesterday launched Cardiff Metropolitan University Programme at a special ceremony that was held under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Mohammed bin Thuwaini bin Shihab Al Said, Chairman of Gulf College’s Board of Trustees.
The ceremony was attended by a delegation of Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom (UK) led by Professor Barbara Wilding, Honorary Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Jon Wilks, British Ambassador to the Sultanate and Dr. Issa bin Sabeel Al Balushi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The event included a visual presentation on horizons of education in the Sultanate of Oman.
The launch comes within the efforts made by the Ministry of Higher Education to promote private higher education institutions in the Sultanate.
The Ministry recently approved several programmes for bachelor degree with grade of honours that will be available in the Sultanate soon through academic affiliation with Gulf College in Muscat.
The number of students at Cardiff Metropolitan University, which was established in 1865 – 150 years ago, stands at 16,000.
