
KUWAIT CITY: One person was killed while 63 others were injured in Kuwait Airport attack on Wednesday morning.
The public hospitals in Kuwait received 63 injured patients following the recent incident at Kuwait International Airport, according to the Ministry of Health's official spokesperson, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.
Speaking on Wednesday, Al-Sanad said the injured were distributed across several hospitals as part of the country's emergency response plan. Farwaniya Hospital received the highest number of cases with 34 patients, followed by Jaber Hospital with 17. Jahra Hospital admitted five cases, Al-Adan Hospital three, Al-Amiri Hospital two, while Al-Sabah Hospital and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital each received one patient.
He revealed that seven patients have undergone urgent major surgical procedures, in addition to several minor operations. Medical teams continue to closely monitor critical cases requiring intensive care and advanced treatment.
Al-Sanad said the distribution of patients among multiple hospitals was carried out in line with national emergency protocols to ensure an efficient medical response and optimal use of available specialist and clinical resources.
The injuries involved civilians, airport employees and travelers, and ranged from shrapnel and blast-related wounds to fractures, head injuries, brain hemorrhages, amputations and cases of smoke inhalation.
Emergency and ambulance teams were dispatched immediately after reports of the incident were received. Responders conducted rapid triage at the scene, provided urgent medical care and transferred patients to hospitals based on the severity of their injuries.
Al-Sanad added that Kuwait's health system activated its emergency protocols, including the full mobilization of medical personnel, heightened readiness in emergency departments and intensive care units, and close coordination with relevant government agencies to manage the aftermath of the incident.
