Sohar: The Youth Centre, in partnership with Sohar Port and Freezone, has concluded the Sustainability and Renewable Energy Programme. The programme included the participation of 50 young men and women, comprising graduates of scientific and engineering disciplines as well as entrepreneurs interested in clean energy and sustainability. It was held during the period from 26 April to 10 June.
The programme aimed to enable youth to acquire foundational knowledge of hydrogen and its importance in the energy sector's transition and decarbonisation efforts. It also sought to enhance their understanding of energy sustainability concepts, energy efficiency, and the integration of renewable and conventional energy sources within a balanced energy mix.
Furthermore, the programme sought to stimulate innovative thinking among participants. The goal was to enable them to develop projects, initiatives, and practical solutions in the fields of sustainable energy, hydrogen, and emissions reduction. The programme connected theoretical knowledge with practical applications through workshops and local, regional, and international case studies. Additionally, it prepared and qualified young talents capable of contributing to the requirements and future job opportunities in the energy and sustainability sectors.
It is worth noting that the Youth Centre and Sohar Port and Freezone, through their partnership, aim to deliver continuous specialised programmes that support the future orientations and aspirations of youth. They also seek to enhance and empower youth capacities in line with labour market requirements and the development plans of the Sultanate of Oman.
