Muscat: The Royal Hospital recently has set a global medical milestone by obtaining two prestigious international accreditations. The hospital merited ranking as a centre of excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of immunological and allergic diseases. The achievement was the outcome of collaborative action and medical integration between the hospital's Clinical Immunology and Allergy Units (for adults and children) and Immunology Laboratory.
The first achievement was Royal Hospital's ranking as a Centre of Excellence by the World Allergy Organisation (WAO), thanks to exceptional efforts made by the clinical medical staff in the hospital’s Adult and Paediatric Immunology and Allergy Units, with support from the Immunology Laboratory team.
The second achievement was Royal Hospital’s gaining accreditation from the Global Network of Excellence in Allergy and Asthma (GA²LEN), ranking the hospital as an accredited Centre of Excellence for Atopic Dermatitis (ADCARE). The ranking was granted to the Royal Hospital after it passed two comprehensive external assessments and audits of medical quality standards, which underscores its dedication to apply advanced and accurate treatment protocols.
Dr. Iman Hamed Nasr, Consultant Immunologist and Allergist at the Royal Hospital, told Oman News Agency that the global accreditation by the of the WAO and the ADCARE highlight the hospital’s fulfilment of advanced international standards featuring high quality of clinical care, the accuracy of laboratory diagnostic services, the availability of specialized medical competencies and commitment to evidence-based practices, in addition to excellence in the fields of education, training and scholarly research.
She explained that these accreditations differ from traditional health rankings, since they are not restricted to the quality of health services and the safety of procedures, but focus on precise specialised excellence and the institution’s ability to integrate advanced clinical care with research, medical education and innovation in accordance with the best global practices.
She affirmed that this achievement would reflect positively on patients care in the Sultanate of Oman.
Dr. Iman Nasr added that the accreditation of the Centre of Excellence in Atopic Dermatitis reflects the availability of advanced standards in the diagnosis and management of this chronic disease through multidisciplinary medical teams, the application of the latest treatment methods and the furnishing of integrated care that includes diagnosis, treatment and long-term follow-up.
She stressed that the next phase would see the development of national competencies, the enhancement of research output and the expansion of specialised education and training programmes to maintain global standards of excellence.
Dr. Iman Nasr pointed out that these accreditations enhance Royal Hospital’s position as a regional reference centre in immunology and allergy specialties and open up greater vistas for cooperation with international institutions and centres specialized in research, medical education and professional training.
The two accreditations reflect Royal Hospital’s constant commitment to enhancing the health services system and providing integrated specialised medical care that meets the highest international standards and contributes to consolidating the status of the Omani health sector on the global medical map as a leading destination in providing advanced health care.
