Activities of 'Air Sports Village”' begin in Dhofar

Taqah: Activities of a week-long event titled “Air Sports Village” kicked off in the Governorate of Dhofar on Wednesday. The event, which will run until 17 August 2026, is organised by Oman Air Sports Committee in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

In the opening ceremony, aerial displays lit the skies, to the thrill of visitors and tourists in the Governorate. The activities included paragliding, kite flying and drone demos.

Dr. Ahmed Al Alawi, Chairman of Oman Air Sports Committee, said, "The event seeks to make air sports an integral part of the community's culture, in addition to promoting tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar."

For his part, Hussein Issa, a member of Oman Air Sports Committee, said that this year's edition of the event offers visitors and tourists an opportunity to simulate flying activities by using virtual reality technologies.

At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, Sheikh Tarik Khalid Al Hinai, Wali of Taqah, felicitated the representatives of public and private sector establishments that supported the event in appreciation for their efforts in promoting air sports and tourism.
