Muscat: Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) announced that Muscat International and Salalah airports' growth has exceeded expectations in terms of the number of passengers.
The company said the number of passengers at Muscat International Airport rose by 18 per cent during 2015, surpassing the 10 million passengers mark for the first time, while the recently launched Salalah Airport has also seen a rise in the passenger traffic by 22 per cent to more than one million passengers, as a result of domestic and foreign tourists.
Air traffic in the Sultanate has also seen strong growth as the number of flights at Muscat International Airport exceeded 95,000, an increase of 15 per cent, while air traffic at Salalah Airport rose by 21 per cent.
Said Abdul Wahab bin Abdul Karim Baloch, acting Director-General of Muscat International Airport said that the company was able to achieve many accomplishments in 2015 that reflected on the growth in the number of passengers at Muscat International Airport in December compared to last year.
