Muscat: Mina Al Sultan Qaboos Waterfront development in Muttrah expected to be launched for investors next month, the minister of commerce and industry said.
“Work on Mina Al Sultan Qaboos Waterfront scheme is expected to begin next year,” Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy , the minister of Commerce and Industry, said in his keynote address at the Outlook Oman Forum organised in collaboration with MEED.
According to the minister, in January, the government announced its 9th Five-year Plan was early this year with already committed projects of OMR9 Billion based on the Royal Decree 1/2016 and out of which, 50 per cent have already been awarded and under implantation with expected completion targets this year and the next two years and by the end of September this year.
“Nearly OMR1.2 Billion has been paid to contractors by the Ministry of Finance,” the minister added.
The minister said that almost 50 per cent of the above-mentioned government projects are roads, airports and ports.
“About 16 per cent are education, healthcare and training related. Nearly 10 per cent are housing related. About 8 per cent of such projects are in the area of electricity, water and water dames. Almost 5 per cent are towards municipality projects,” the minister added.
