Muscat: A first place prize was awarded to the Human Resources and Administration Department of the Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) recently for the development of their workforce.
The Middle East Society of Human Resource Management Award 2016, under the category of learning Talent Management, was awarded to the Human Resources and Administration Department at OAMC for their hard work in recruitment, learning and development of their staff, especially
the youth.
Ali Al Eisri, training and development manager, OAMC, was happy about the award and the goal that was achieved by his department and the company; however, he said the true result of success is elsewhere.
“For us the true result will be evident when we open the Muscat International Airport successfully as we opened the Salalah Airport successfully with Omani talent and Omani youth,” said Al Eisri.
He added that OAMC always looks to recruit young graduates from university and colleges, where the company trains and develops them from scratch to bring out the next generation of Omani youth employees.
“It starts from the recruitment stage, not only from the development stage. When we recruit, we recruit attitude more than skills and the knowledge of individuals because the only place to work at the airport is in the airport (itself). We don’t have any other resource to get people from,” explained Al Eisry. “So we recruit the youth and young graduates and we start to develop them from scratch. We inject a lot of development and hands-on training,” he added.
He also added that recruits will go through a series of tests and be given assignments to complete and present it before the management team in order to earn a position within OAMC.
