Muscat: Oman has been ranked eighth in the world among top countries to visit in 2017 by the Lonely Planet travel guide. The ‘Best in Travel 2017’ list by the travel guide features Oman in the annual list for the first time since 2009 and is the only country from the Gulf Cooperation Council that made it to the list.

It also ranks Oman third after Nepal and Mongolia, among the four Asian countries featured in the list.

Describing the countries as destinations you cannot afford to miss in 2017, Lonely Planet ranks Canada first, followed by Columbia and Finland.
