US-Bangla Airlines to start Oman-Bangladesh operations from November 11

Muscat: A new private airline will connect Oman and Bangladesh from November 11.
The private airline from Bangladesh — the US-Bangla Airlines—will operate four flights a week to Muscat, which will cater to more than 650,000 Bangladeshis living in the Sultanate.
Sunil Prabhakar, chief executive officer, Travel Point LLC, said the US-Bangla Airline will operate on Wednesday, Friday, Monday and Saturday during its winter schedule. “It will fly to Dhaka and Chittagong and from there it will connect to various cities in Bangladesh,” he said.
Travel Point LLC has been appointed as the general sales agent for US-Bangla Airlines in Oman.
The airline will operate a Boeing 737 aircraft, which will have around 158 seats. The flight will depart from the Muscat International Airport at 3 am and land in Bangladesh around 9.20 am.
US-Bangla Airlines recently brought the Boeing 737-800 aircraft into its fleet to expand its wing. It began its journey on July 17, 2014 with its maiden flight from Dhaka to Jessore in Bangladesh.
The airline has so far successfully operated over 16,000 flights on the domestic and Dhaka-Kathmandu route. With the new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the total number of aircraft owned by the company is now four.
To further expand its operation into the international arena, the management of US-Bangla Airlines will procure three more brand new Boeing 737-500 aircrafts in 2016.
The passengers are, however, very happy.
“We will have more choices if we are flying to Bangladesh,” said Sukumar Das, who is living in Oman for the last 10 years.
Passengers said there is an overwhelming demand for travel between Oman and Bangladesh, due to the growing presence of the Bangladesh community and the existence of strong relations between the two countries.
“The new airline will be good for passengers as increased airline competition may bring down fares for Bangladesh,” Mohammed Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, president, Bangladesh Social Club said.
