Muscat: From midnight, drivers will be able to buy a new fuel at Oman’s petrol pumps, and the current regular option will be replaced.

Orpic, Oman’s national refining and petrochemicals firm, has confirmed that MOGAS 91 or M91 fuel will be available beginning, November 1.
“The date is confirmed as November 1, 2016, and it will be available on the same. All fuel marketing companies are well informed,” a senior official from Orpic wrote, in an email to Times of Oman.
Regarding the price, the official added that the monthly fuel pricing committee will announce the prices. The price of Super grade petrol (M95) will be 179 baisas per litre, Regular grade petrol (M90) will be 169 baisas and diesel will be sold at 185 baisas per litre.
The existing M90 will be replaced with the new M91.
According to Orpic, the MOGAS 91, or M91 fuel, looks set to master the market in Oman, with up to 85 per cent of all cars on Oman’s roads able to use the new fuel.
The top five selling vehicles in Oman can all run on M91, according to a website created by Orpic, for drivers to select the best fuel for their cars.
Toyota models, such as theHilux, Land Cruiser Pickup, Land Cruiser SUV, Prado and Corolla can all run onthe new fuel.
The Hyundai Elantra, among the top-10 selling cars in the country, can also operate usingthe new fuel.
Dodge Ram, Jeep Wrangler, Honda Accord, Suzuki Swift, Nissan Altima, Hyundai Veloster and all BMW models, besides the M series, can run on M91 fuel.
However, M95 is considered the optimum fuel grade for some models, such as the Land Rover Discovery, Mitsubishi Pajero, Porsche Cayenne and the BMW M series.
