Muscat: The first phase of the 27th Graduation Ceremony of Sultan Qaboos University was held today at the University’s amphitheatre, under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah Mohammed Al Salmi, Minister of Awqaf & Religious Affairs.
A total of 1,297 graduates from the science colleges received their certificates at the ceremony. The number of graduates includes 93 from the College of Nursing; 144 from the College of Medicine and Health Science; 402 from the College of Engineering; 420 from the College of Science; and 238 from the College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences.
A total of 77 students graduated today with Masters degrees, 20 with PhDs and 99 with medical (MD) degrees. The ceremony marked the graduation of the 8th batch of PhD graduates, the 21st batch of master’s degree holders and the 27th group of bachelor’s degree holders.
Congratulating the graduates, Al Salmi said that the new graduates were good ambassadors for the university and role models in their respective professions. “Each graduate goes out into the world as a much better individual, equipped with new knowledge and skills and willing to share and contribute to the progress of the nation.
It gives me immense pleasure, because the graduation ceremony of SQU coincides with the 46th National Day celebrations of the Sultanate,” he said.
