Muscat: Dr Yahya bin Bader Al Maawali, undersecretary for the Ministry of Social Development and the patron of the Children First Association conference said it reflects the important role played by civil community associations and other organisations in the protection of children’s rights.
The meet opened at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) on Tuesday,
“The conference also seeks to discuss and deal with the protection, legislation, laws and educational and cultural dimensions that should be shared and implemented by all the institutions and the cooperation between them to find the appropriate procedures to ensure the required protection for children,” Maawali noted.
At the opening ceremony, Her Highness Dr. Mona bint Fahad Al Said, SQU assistant vice chancellor for International Cooperation, and chairperson of Children First Association, welcomed the audience and indicated that the real wealth of any nation is represented in its human resources, which lead to advancement and development in various fields.
Dr. Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Harthi, assistant professor at the Psychology Department, and chairman of the organising committee for the conference, said the Association is a platform for discussing children’s issues in the Omani society.
