Muscat: Finnish abstract artist Matti Sirvio and Omani sculptor Essa Al Mufarji are opening their first joint exhibition entitled, “Thoughts.”
Located near the Muttrah Fort, Ghalya’s Museum of Modern Art will open its doors for art lovers in Oman to enjoy their renowned artworks on Tuesday evening, November 8. “Thinking is man’s greatest responsibility,” said 60-year-old Sirvio.

Featuring more than 30 abstract paintings and sculptures, the gallery will be launched under the patronage of Dr Suad Mohammer Al Lawati, deputy chairperson of the State Council. The paintings will be available for purchase at OMR400 onwards.
“Most people are afraid of the word abstract because they think it is not real. I believe it is real, but it is not bound to time and place,” Sirvio saidd.During the past few years Sirvio has held exhibitions in Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, England, Russia, Austria and Finland. This is his third time working with Ghalya’s Museum.
