Muscat: Ahli-Sidab Club nominee Talib Khamis Al Wahaibi was elected as the chairman of the Oman Hockey Association (OHA) for the 2016-20 term during the General Assembly held at the Hotel City Seasons on Wednesday night.
In a three-way contest for the chairmanship of the Sultanate’s hockey governing body, Talib defeated incumbent Sheikh Mahfoodh Ali Juma Al Juma and Adil Al Farsi.
Talib won with 11 votes while Adil Al Farsi, who is the chairman of Saham Club, managed to get seven votes.
Sheikh Mahfoodh Al Juma, a representative of Quriyat Club, disappointingly received only five votes.
The General Assembly, meanwhile, preferred Dr. Mohammed Al Amari of Mirbat Club over Rabee’a Al Noufali for the vice-chairmanship.
There was another three-way contest for the post of general secretary which saw Dr. Khamis Al Rahbi defeating Qais Al Mashari and Abdulrahman Al Balushi for the post.
Another incumbent Zohair Al Ajmi lost the treasurer's post to Tayyib Al Sheedi.
The General Assembly also elected five board members and they are Anwar Bait Al Fadhil, Abdullah Al Balushi, Ala Salim Al Riyami, Ahmed Bait Hadha and Salim Al Qartoobi.
