Oman's Minister of Education awarded the Arab Scout necklace

Muscat: Dr. Madihah bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education was awarded the Arab Scout necklace by Dr. Atef Abdul Majeed Abdul Rahman Ahmad, Secretary General of ASO for her efforts to promote Scout work in the Sultanate, the Arab world and the world.
The necklace was also awarded to Dr. Mohammed Thunaibat, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs and the Minister of Education and Maj.Gen Jibril Al Rajoub, Minister of Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Palestinian Scout Association.
The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General for Scouts and Guides, in cooperation with the Arab Scout Organisation (ASO) during the November 6 to 9 under the theme “Scouting and Environment Improvement”.
Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the Sate Council patronised over the concluding ceremony, in the presence of Dr. Madihah bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, a number of their highnesses, ministers, Dr. Atef Abdul Majeed Ahmed, Secretary General of ASO and heads and members of scout delegations.
During the closing ceremony, The 28th Arab Scout Conference came out with a number of recommendations, including the allocation of an award to youth initiatives and honouring the winners within the framework of supporting youth scouting activities. It also recommended the integration of environmental concepts in the scouting curricula, maintaining and encouraging scout units and groups on the establishment of developmental projects, conservation of resources and development of the environment.
It also recommended the allocation of awards for scientific research and supporting scientific research in the field of the environment and the establishment of an Arab electronic library dedicated to the environment.
Khamis bin Salim Al Rasbi, Director General of the Scouts and Girl Guides was elected as chairman of the Arab Scout Committee for the next period (2017-2020).
The 28th Arab Scout Conference concluded at Al Bustan Palace Hotel yesterday.
It is worth mentioning that the 28th Arab Scout Conference stressed the importance of giving the subject of improving the environment and nature conservation and protection more attention of Scout Movement and its leaders because of its impact on human life and the future of generations to come.
