Muscat: If you are looking to shoot to stardom, and have the right talent, make sure you don’t miss this rare opportunity. The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is on the lookout for 20 male extras for its first major in-house opera dedicated to Oman’s renaissance.
Due to be performed on January 5,6, and 7 at the ‘Al Maidan’ area of the ROHM, the 90-minute show, titled ‘Celebrating Oman’, will take audiences on a wonderful expedition with unforgettable storytelling by artists and performers from Oman and around the world.
The show has been developed in collaboration with the ‘Namaste Group’ and features an original libretto by talented Omani writer Saleh Al Fahdi. To celebrate Oman in style, the impressive dramaturgy has been produced by the renowned Italian creator of exciting events, Paolo Dalla Sega. With some fabulous choreography, this ground-breaking production brims with extraordinary music and poetry, stunning acrobatics, original dance moves, and amazing visual effects.
Extras will need to help move scenic elements around the performance area and take part in still ‘tableaux’ scenes. Applicants should be aged between 20 and 40, about 5’5’’ – 6’in height, wear shoe sizes between 38 and 46, and their basic body size should be large or extra-large.
Applicants should agree to be available for all scheduled costume fittings, rehearsals and performances, otherwise they will not be able to take part.
Those who want to apply for this production must send ROHM one full length photograph, one headshot photograph plus a short cell-phone video to introduce themselves to [email protected], along with a covering e-mail giving details such as name, age, height, clothing size, shoe size and contact telephone number, previous acting experience, and why they would like to be involved.
Successful applicants will be informed by e-mail if they have been selected and/or if an audition will be required. For a full list of requirements and schedules, visit rohmuscat.org.om.
