Muscat: Water supplies in Amerat are likely to be affected as a leak has been detected at the pumping station in Wadi Aday, the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) tweeted on its official twitter handle.
“PAEW expects water distribution in Amerat will be affected in the next 24 hours,” the tweet read.
The authority has also asked the water tanker operators to the nearest water filling station to fill their tanks.
On Tuesday, the authority said that water supply will be disrupted in some areas in Muscat and Muttrah for 24 hours on Thursday.
The PAEW said that all the areas in Muscat Wilayat, except Bustan and Qantab, will face water supply disruption.
“Water supply will be cut off in Darsait, Tiwan, Corniche, Muttrah Souq, the port, Jibrooh, Al Washal, Tiwan Muttrah and Zubadiya in Wilayat Muttrah. The new pipeline will connect the main reservoir in Wadi Kabir to Muscat reservoir; this will allow constant flow of water in the areas by replacing the old pipeline which suffered cracks in the past that resulted in water shortages,” PAEW added.
PAEW advises its subscribers to store water for 48 hours in their tanks and use sparingly until the installation is complete.
