GUANGZHOU, CHINA: Bridging the gap between two cultures, Oman Air launched its first ever direct China destination where tourism to the Sultanate and investment opportunities would suffice and aid the Omani economy.
When Times of Oman asked if the route would enhance trade and investments from the Chinese to the Sultanate amid the slow recovering economy, Oman Air Chief Paul Gregorowitsch said that companies in Oman are already using the Chinese market to attract investors to the Sultanate.
“Companies are travelling to China to attract investors in hotels and real estate in Oman is currently on full speed. The connection we are having today to Guangzhou is just the start of our airbridges between Oman and China,” said Gregorowitsch.
“And we will hope soon, with the extension of the new Beijing airport, that we will also have Beijing as our second destination in our network and on top of that, we are also looking to the, although still huge cities, but maybe not the three big ones (Shanghai, Beijing, Guanzhou), to go to other regional cities in China to link up connections,” added Gregorowitsch saying that China is a major investor in the SEZAD industrial sector.
Connecting Muscat to Guangzhou, H.E Yahya Al Jabri, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority Duqm (SEZAD) said that the business destination is a haven for tourists and that Chinese investments in Oman is going on and will increase.
“China is the biggest exporter of tourists and it is a positive impact on the Chinese industrial project in Duqm. It will bring Duqm and China closer with regards to investment exchanges,” said Al Jabri.
Gregorowitsch also said that several companies in Oman are looking at China for investments adding that they are already big players in the Omani market.
“We are confident that the political and stable situation in Oman will bring unique investment opportunities for Chinese investors,” said the Oman Air Chief.
