Oman Crime: Bogus official held by Royal Oman Police

Muscat: A man posing as a government official has been arrested in connection with multiple cases of alleged theft, looting and impersonating.
An official source at the Royal Oman Police said that the Directorate General of Inquiries and Investigations in conjunction with the ROP Muscat, have arrested the Omani citizen.
The source confirmed that the accused had access to homes under construction, stole phones and wallets of employees, all while claiming to be a government employee.
The suspect has been apprehended and confessed to seven different cases from different areas and has been transferred to Public Prosecution, according to police.
Work visa scam
An expatriate was scammed for OMR1,200 for bogus work visas, police reported. The victim called police to complain and after checking the offender register they quickly apprehended the serial offender.
In another incident, the Royal Oman Police in Seeb arrested an Asian national attempting to scam an Arab national by selling fake gold flakes. The call was made and the search team immediately investigated the case and arrested the suspect, who admitted the offence, police say.
