Oman gears up to receive Kuwait Emir

Muscat: With high esteem and appreciation, Muscat prepares to receive His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s guest, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jabir Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait who is coming on a three-day state visit starting today to his second home country.
Omanis prepare to receive their esteemed guest with warm welcome and open hearts.
A statement by the Diwan of Royal Court, says that " Crowning the strong , close and brotherly relations between the two countries, and in response to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's invitation, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, will pay a three-day State visit to the Sultanate, starting on Monday, February 20, 2017.”
The Emir of Kuwait will be accorded an official welcome ceremony. The visit enhances the cooperation march between the Sultanate and Kuwait and out of both leaders' keenness to enhance the joint interests between the two countries in different fields.
The Emir of Kuwait will be accompanied by an official delegation comprising Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Deputy Chief of the National Guard ; Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister; Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al Sabah, Deputy Minister of Emiri Diwan Affairs ; Sheikh Khalid Al Jarrah Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior ; Anas Khalid Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; Ahmed Fahd Al Fahad, Director of the Office of Emir of Kuwait; Sheikh Khalid Al Abdullah Al Sabah Al Nasser Al Sabah, Chief of the Emiri Protocols, Khalid Sulaiman Al Jarallah, Deputy Foreign Minister; Yousuf Hamad Al Roumi, Chief of the Emiri Diwan’s Media and Cultural Affairs ; Sheikh Fawaz Al Saud Al Nasser Al Saud Al Sabah, Chief of Political and Economic Affairs at the Emiri Diwan; Ali Fahd Al Rashid, Advisor at the Emiri Diwan and Mazin Isa Al Isa , Undersecretary for the Information and Computer Centre Affairs at the Emiri Diwan; Nasser Haji Al Mezain, Assistant Foreign Minister for the GCC Affairs and Fahd Hajar Al Mutairi, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Sultanate and a number of officials.
Thanks to the royal care of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jabir Al Sabah, the Omani- Kuwaiti relations have managed since many years ago to go beyond the traditional relations among the sisterly states. There are many things in common between HM the Sultan and the Emir of Kuwait, such as close ties, high esteem, cordial relations and continuous communications.
These bonds have great and tangible effects on the relations between the Omani and Kuwaiti people. The Emir of Kuwait's visit crowns the strong relations and close bonds that bind the two states and people at all the official and local levels and in all fields. The relations between the Sultanate and Kuwait is making steady and tangible strides towards achieving the prospective aims at the bilateral level or within the cooperation among the GCC
States. The two wise leaderships are very keen on enhancing the relations between the two states and people building on the common and mutual interests.
Besides the strong bases and fundamentals of the Omani- Kuwait relations, which make them a model for relations among brothers, the visit of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah and his talks with His Majesty the Sultan will cover a number of issues of interest for the brotherly states and people.
They will also discuss the developments of the region and their effects on the present and future of a number of states and the region as a whole. This is due to the fact that there is a close link between the state and people of the region and their interests, security, safety and prosperity either in the present or in the future.
What adds to the importance of the Emir of Kuwait's visit to the Sultanate and the talks he will have with HM the Sultan is the fact that both leaders have firm believe in peace and the need to solve all disputes through peaceful means, constructive dialogue and abidance by international rules.
These international rules include good neighbour realtions, cooperation with bona-fide to achieve common and reciprocal interests and non -interference in the domestic affairs of other countries under any circumstances or any reasons.
They believe that this approach will help the states and people of the region in building their present and future by the way they deem appropriate for them and with their own free will.
There is a common consensus by all people and international charts about the importance of adopting these principles and translating such principles into reality will facilitate reaching a compromise among different countries.
The approach will also help them in achieving their common and reciprocal interests and increase the ability of each individual and group countries to face existing or potentials risks or threats due to the developments and changes in the region that ought to be taken into consideration.
HM the Sultan and Sheikh Sabah enjoy high regional and international esteem and at all official and local levels. This adds increasing importance to their vision and their good offices and efforts to promote peace, security, stability and rapprochement among countries and people of the region.
His Majesty the Sultan has been honoured with the Arab Human Rights Award 2016 by the Oslo-based Arab-European Center of Human Rights for His Majesty's great efforts and noble contributions in the field of protection and support of human rights on local, regional and international levels.
On 9th September 2014, the former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon honoured Sheikh Sabah, with "Humanitarian Leader” award, in recognition of his contribution to the humanitarian work and continuous support to the humanitarian work of the UN.
Sheikh Al Sabah had donated aid to many countries that have been affected by natural or human disasters or faced refugees problems or suffered from war related problems. These donations were provided regardless of any geographic, ethnic or religious or political considerations. This approach has been widely recognised by the UN and outside UN.
As for the Omani- Kuwait relations, these relations have seen rapid developments to meet the aspirations of the two states and people. These relations gain momentum and thrust from the care of HM the Sultan and the Emir of Kuwait.
As for the reciprocal trade between the Sultanate and Kuwait, the Omani- Kuwait joint committee make many efforts to enhance the cooperation between the two countries in economic, commercial, education, scientific research , youth, civil service ,environment and other fields.
The two countries have signed a number of agreements and MoUs over the past years.
The Omani and Kuwaiti private sectors play a growing role to enhance investments between the two countries' especially in business, real estate and other fields. There is always an opportunity for enhancing and deepening cooperation and investments between the two countries to achieve the common and reciprocal interests that will bring benefits not only for the two countries but also for the region as a whole.
The visit of Sheikh Sabah to the Sultanate today is thus an important step to achieve the aspirations of the two states and peoples in all field.
