Muscat: The Moscow Rachmaninov Trio took the audience on a musical journey during their performance on Wednesday night.
Cellist Natalia Savinova and the pianist Victor Yampolsky of the Moscow Rachmaninov Trio, along with the Russian clarinettist Sergey Petrov performed at a concert, which comprised compositions from the chamber music repertoire of composers, such as Glinka, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Kovacs and others.
The concert was organised by Arabesque International under the patronage of Envarbic Fazelianov, ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Sultanate of Oman.
Musicians from the Oud Hobbyist Association also performed along with the Russian Trio at the concert.
According to Ahmed Abouzahra, general manager of Arabesque International, their project aims to exchange musical experiences between Omani artists asa a group and the international musicians.
“The combined performance of the Omani and Russian musicians will not only add to the musical experience and knowledge of Omani musicians, but will also add to the Russians’ (experience) by introducing them to Omani culture and music, which will make them go back to their country and talk about their experience,” Abouzahra added.
According to Anton, the event was interesting.
“It was an amazing concert. It took me to a different mood and I felt so relaxed,” he said.
“They demonstrated what a versatile and capable ensemble they are,” another audience member told the Times of Oman.
The Moscow Rachmaninov Trio is a musical ensemble well known among music admirers all over the world.
Nineteen years of joint creative work has brought the musicians the affection of the audience, respect of their colleagues and critical acclaim both in Russia and abroad.
The Trio’s musicians regularly conduct major international workshops at reputed organisations. They also organise an annual international festival for piano trios called “The Rachmaninov Trio and Friends” inviting the best piano trios from all over the world to Moscow.
During their stay in Muscat, they attended several workshops at the American British Academy, the PDO School, the Al Shmoukh International School, Our Planet School and the Azzan Bin Qais International School.
They also attended two sessions with the musicians of the Oud Hobbyist Association prior to their performance on Wednesday night at the American International School Muscat (TAISM).
The event was attended by special guests of the Arabesque International, as well as many music enthusiasts.
Abouzahra also extended his sincere appreciation and gratitude for the support of the Russian Ambassador to the Sultanate, the Oman Arab Bank—the main sponsor of the event, media partners and TAISM, which made the concert possible.
