Muscat: A young Omani X-ray technician has become a star among Keralites in the region, owing to his resemblance to Dulquer Salmaan, the young superstar of the Malayalam film industry and the only son of megastar Mammootty.
Abdul Rahman Mahdhushi, 23, an Omani citizen, who is working as an X-ray technician in Jalan hospital, became popular after an Indian doctor in Doha took a selfie with him to capture his resemblance to Salmaan and posted the picture on Facebook.
Mahdhushi had gone to Doha to meet the Indian doctor for undergoing some treatment, when the latter was surprised by his new patient’s striking resemblance to Salmaan.
“I was surprised to learn that I look like an Indian cine actor. The doctor took a selfie and shared it on social networking sites. On the second day, when I went to the hospital again for a follow up treatment, news of my resemblance to the movie star had spread. I was amazed to see people going crazy to take selfies with me,” Rahaman told the Times of Oman from Qatar over phone.
“Those who met me are saying that, not only do I look like the cine actor, but that I also speak like him,” Rahman said, adding that he hoped to meet the actor in Oman or India.
“I want to take a selfie with him,” Rahman added.
After recognising his resemblance with Salmaan, Rahman also started watching his movies.
“I watched ‘Charly,’ ‘Bangalore Days’ and ‘Usthad Hotel,’ Rahman, who now introduces himself as Dulquer Abdul Rahman, said.
