Muscat: Residents in Oman who have been vaccinated against measles are advised to wait 30 days before donating blood, the Department of Blood Banks Services announced.
"We advise donors to donate blood before they receive the measles vaccination, or wait 30 days after receiving the vaccine, to donate," the Department of Blood Banks Services said.
The department has set up a number of blood banks around the Sultanate, in Athaiba, Ibra, Al Khoud, Al Amerat and Samail, to encourage more residents to donate blood.
Oman's Ministry of Health is gearing up for the second phase of the National Immunisation Campaign against Measles, which will run from the September 10 to 16.
The jab is free for all citizens and residents and will be available in government health centres and vaccination centres.
