Muscat: A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit was launched at the Khoula Hospital on Tuesday by the Ministry of Health.
The event took place under the auspices of Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosni, Undersecretary, Ministry of Health for Health Affairs in the presence of Abdul Amir bin Abdul Husain Al Ajmi, Director of External Affairs and Value Creation at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The project, generously supplied by PDO, started to functioning six months ago.
The unit employs the most sophisticated technology; the (1.5 Tesla) Machine, which is considered state-of-the-art in medical imaging.
Dr. Ali bin Muhad Al Ma’ashani, Director General of Khoula Hospital affirmed the shared purpose of cooperation and partnership between the government and private sectors to promote all aspects of services in the Sultanate.
Al-Ajmi emphasized that the contribution of the PDO comes within the company’s social investment programme and its efforts to mitigate the pains of patients, in addition to promoting the health services in the country in all therapeutic, preventive, diagnostic, and rehabilitation levels.
Introducing such service to the hospital would facilitate providing earlier diagnosis and treatment, subsequently reducing the waiting list.
