Muscat: Omantel, the premier telecom provider in Oman, has announced a new initiative on Omani Women’s Day.
The Omantel Award for Omani Women's Association is the latest among the initiatives undertaken by the leading telecommunications company to fulfil its social responsibility towards the Sultanate.
To qualify for these awards, Omani Women’s associations will need to showcase the projects they have implemented for the welfare of women. They must also show how modern technologies and information systems have helped improve performance and efficiency. The focus areas of these projects can be technical, social, economic, occupational and environmental. Currently, there are 59 Omani Women’s Associations registered in the Sultanate.
Commenting on the awards, Laila Mohammed Al Wahaibi, manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Omantel said, “These awards are designed to spread the spirit of innovation, volunteerism and healthy competition among community associations in Oman. By partnering with civil society organisations, Omantel is committed to bringing about all-round and sustainable development and especially use this platform to encourage associations to integrate the needs of women into comprehensive national development plans. We sincerely thank His Majesty for dedicating this day to women in Oman and recognising their efforts in driving the socio-economic development of the country.”
“This award aims at recognising all Omani Women’s Associations and their affiliates. The eligibility requirements are available on Omantel’s social media channels. Those who wish to register for the award can fill out an application form and send to [email protected] where the applications will be evaluated by a specialised committee.
