Muscat: As part of its commitment to contribute towards meaningful causes in the community, The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp)’s ‘collaboration team’ organised a get-together forum in Nizwa for the elderly in cooperation with the Bawader Company which operate Nizwa fort and Omani Association for Elderly Friends.
A number of elderly citizens and members of Omani Association attended the get-together, which was held at the Nizwa Fort, for Elderly Friends. The get-together included many activities and programmes including folk songs, handicrafts, storytelling among others. The elderly toured the castle, learned about the ancient history of Oman and past life along with the achievements of the Omani people.
The ‘collaboration team’ comprises a group of employees of Z-Corp and its subsidiaries who participate in community initiatives which are planned and executed by them. In the past, the team has organised a great variety of programmes, from social activities to community support for the benefit of the elders across the governorates of the Sultanate.
Omani Association for Elderly Friends is a non-profit organisation registered under the Ministry of Social Development. The association, which has branches all over Oman, has been working towards the welfare of senior citizens in coordination with private and public sector companies. The objective of the association is to work towards the physical, mental and social well-being of senior citizens as well as enhance the quality of their life. The get-together also aimed to highlight the activities of Omani Association for Elderly Friends from the different governorates of the Sultanate.
The get-together provided a chance for the elderly citizens to interact with fellow community members. The objective of the event was to encourage senior citizens to participate, engage and intended to inspire senior citizens to keep playing an active role in society.
Emphasising that elderly citizens are important members of our community, Ibrahim Al Salmi, assistant general manager - Zubair Corporation said, “Senior citizens in our communities deserve respect and intellectual recognition.
