Muscat: When ‘Signature’, Oman’s popular lifestyle magazine swung the spotlights during its ‘Luxury 100’ awards night, they stopped to focus on Lincoln Continental -one of the most rewarding and inspiring luxury automobiles in Oman.
Lincoln Continental was chosen to be crowned as the ‘Luxury Car of the Year’. This was a spot-on recognition of a brand that is quickly winning over people in Oman on the strength of its distinct styling, sumptuous interiors and the state-of-the-art technology.
“It is a great moment for us to win this award,” said a representative from Arabian Car Marketing. “Lincoln automobiles have been one of the most innovative luxury automotive brands. Their features, technologies and luxury have always remained a source of inspiration for many. In Oman too, Lincoln is steadily making its mark on luxury enthusiasts, and this award recognises this achievement,” he added.
The impressively-elegant Lincoln Continental is designed to appeal to those who are looking for something different in the luxury market. The introduction of the sophisticated and stylish full-size sedan ushers in a new era of extravagance, delivering effortless power and a comfortable, relaxing ride to the most discerning clients.
The strong profile of the Continental makes a huge mark with its large face complemented by the one-piece Lincoln signature grille and available Premium LED headlamps. The interiors of the Continental are more a luxurious suite. Amenities throughout subtly transform the ordinary into extraordinary. The Continental features the segment first innovative door latching system that effortlessly opens the door, without exerting any force at all. While the available auto-cinch feature secures the door latch when gently closed. More like a touch sensitive response. An available expansive twin-panel moonroof transforms the interior, allowing you to sit back and enjoy enriching moments staring at the night sky or admiring the bright blue skies on every journey.
In Oman, the Lincoln range includes the MKZ, Continental, MKC, MKX and the Navigator. The luxurious MKZ Reserve AWD is equipped with 370 net PS, 3.0L GTDI V6 engine. Innovative interior features include push-button transmission gear selection, an open, tiered centre console and liquid crystal instrumentation. The reconfigurable 10.1-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LCD positioned ahead of the driver operates with the latest version of SYNC as does the nearly flush-mounted centre 8-inch LCD touchscreen.
Leading the engine choices for the MKX is the advanced 2.7-litre twin-turbocharged GTDI V6, which is GSO-rated at 340 PS at 5,250 rpm and 542 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm on premium fuel. The standard 3.7-litre V6 is GSO-rated at 308 net PS at 6,500 rpm and 379 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Both engines are mated to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with the push-button shift. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is standard on Premiere, Select & Reserve variants of MKX. The interiors are adorned with rich materials and exquisite detailing that add to the experience. Lincoln Experience greets the driver when he or she, with key fob, is within approximately nine feet. The lower LED daytime running lights gently brighten, while a “welcome mat” is projected on the ground from the folded mirrors. Door handles are illuminated and tuned to the exterior colour. The push-button gear shift enables true flow through from the instrument to the centre console.
The Lincoln MKC features a standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder GTDI engine delivering a competitive 253 net PS at 5,500 rpm and 389 Nm net torque at 2,500 rpm. Available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive evaluates road conditions in milliseconds, compensating for and transferring power between the wheels to provide a confident grip and solid response on varying surfaces through differing weather conditions. Throughout the cabin, available open-pore wood trim, door-panel stitching, and exclusive Bridge of Weir Deepsoft leather-trimmed seats accentuate Lincoln MKC’s elegance and grace. The deep soft leather is non-embossed, chromium-free leather that undergoes a 16-hour softening process to give it a supple, natural feel.
The Lincoln Navigator features refined appearance and a fresh, luxuriously appointed interior. Powering the Navigator is the 3.5-litre GTDI engine, which delivers an excellent combination of power and fuel economy. It produces 390 net PS, making this the most powerful Navigator ever. The Navigator's cabin has many high-end materials and is well built. The first- and second-row seats offer plenty of room and comfort, and the third row is spacious enough for adults, which is rare for the class. The upgraded infotainment system is easier to use. The Navigator comes standard with a THX II certified surround-sound audio system, navigation, Bluetooth, Remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen.
