Hit-and-run suspect captured by Oman police

Muscat: Police have announced the capture of a suspect in a hit-and-run case that led to the death of one person in the capital, authorities announced in a statement.

“The department in Muscat was able to capture the leading suspect in a hit-and-run case that caused a loss of life in al Qurum," a statement from Royal Oman Police read.

"There was a report of a severe injury after being struck by a vehicle near al Qurum traffic lights, and the suspect having fled the scene," said the statement, "Police forces in Al Wuttayah immediately moved to organise traffic and avoid further accidents, while the injured individual was taken to the nearest emergency centre by ambulances. Unfortunately, the person in question lost their life."

The statement added, "The suspect has confessed to committing the crime and has been taken to the proper authorities."
