Oman Chess: Napone reigns supreme at Saladmaster Open

Muscat: Emerson Napone of the Philippines emerged the champion at the inaugural Saladmaster Open rapid chess tournament organised at Panorama Mall here on Saturday.
The tournament, organised in co-operation with Oman Chess Committee and the Pinoy Club, saw young talents and experienced players from Omani and expatriate communities vying for top honours in different categories.
In the open category, Emerson Napone played consistent chess in all five rounds to win the first place with an unbeaten record.
Young Srivatsan Karthikeyan and Velavaa Ragavesh finished second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, Pogul Narayan, Shourya Sawlani, Darshan. R and Rithika Venkatesan won titles in age group categories.
