Muscat: Muscat bourse remained active with ample volumes in large cap stock. The MSM 30 Index closed at 5,574.52 points, up 0.08 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index remained flat at 846.05 points.
Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Wednesday’s top gainer was Port Services, up 8.72 per cent, while Global Financial Investment continued to be the top loser, down 9.80 per cent.
As many as 1,381 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR5 million with 23.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded securities, 15 advanced, 10 declined and 22 remained unchanged. Omani Investors remained net buyers to the tune of ORR521,00 worth of shares, while foreign investors, who were net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR392,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors at OMR129,000.
Financial Index advanced 0.54 per cent to finish at 7,081.79 points. Oman & Emirates Holding, Ominvest, Al Anwar Holding, Al Izz Bank and Oman United Insurance gained 6.80 per cent, 6.58 per cent, 1.90 per cent, 1.69 per cent and 1.65 per cent respectively. Global Financial Investment, Ahli Bank, Bank Sohar and Gulf Investment Services slid 9.80 per cent, 2.86 per cent, 2.50 per cent and 0.90 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index was little changed at 6,729.60 points, up 0.02 per cent. Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Fisheries and National Aluminium increased 4.28 per cent, 1.72 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively. Al Hassan Engineering, Gulf International Chemicals, Al Anwar Ceramics and Raysut Cement declined 2.38%, 1.87 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively.
Services Index retreated 0.06 per cent to close at 3,116.28 points. Port Services, Renaissance Services, National Gas and Phoenix Power gained 8.72 per cent, 1.68 per cent, 1.42 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively. Sembcorp Salalah and Omantel declined 2.58 per cent and 0.32 per cent respectively.
