Muscat: The MSM30 Index continued its downtrend and closed at 4,320.46 points, down 0.41 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 612.99 points, down 0.53 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Galfar Engineering, continued its gaining momentum and remained top gainer for the second day and closed up by 3.06 per cent. Monday's top loser was Voltamp Energy, which lost 5.22 per cent.
A total number of 637 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.08 million with more than 18.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 12 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors switched to net buyers for OMR104,000 followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR27,000, while Omani Investors were net sellers for OMR131,000 worth of shares.
The Financial Index closed at 6,697.98 points, down by 0.26 per cent. Muscat Finance, Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Takaful, and HSBC Bank Oman were up by 1.16 per cent, 1.11 per cent, 1.08 per cent, and 0.87 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Holding, Bank Nizwa, Bank Muscat, Bank Sohar, and Oman United Insurance were down by 2.75 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 0.81 per cent, and 0.64 per cent respectively.
The Industry Sector Index was down by 0.33 per cent at 5,620.42 points. Galfar Engineering and Oman Fisheries were up by 3.06 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively. Voltamp Energy, Oman Cement and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 5.22 per cent, 2.14 per cent, and 2.11 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.17 per cent at 2,380.43 points. Jazeera Services was the only gainer from the sector and closed higher by 0.90 per cent. Muscat City Desalination, Ooredoo, OIFC, and Omantel were up by 1.48 per cent, 1.16 per cent, 1.00 per cent, and 0.58 per cent respectively.
