Oman share index ends higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher on Wednesday and closed at 4,530.55 points, up by 0.99 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 620.93 points, up by 0.60 per cent. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Muscat Gases, up by 8.17 per cent. The top loser was Al Madina Investment, which closed lower by 4.55 per cent.
A total number of 966 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR3.75 million with more than 20.56 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 22 advanced, 8 declined and 8 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR793,000 worth of shares followed by the foreign investors for OMR177,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR971,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.39 per cent to close at 6,944.82 points. Al Sharqia Investment Holding, United Finance, Al Anwar Holding, National Bank Of Oman and Al Madina Takaful were up by 5.32 per cent, 3.53 per cent, 3.51 per cent, 2.78 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Alizz Islamic Bank, Bank Sohar and Takaful Oman Insurance were down by 4.55 per cent, 1.16 per cent, 0.78 per cent and 0.77 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.88 per cent to close at 5571.90 points. Raysut Cement, Voltamp Energy, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, Almaha Ceramics and Oman Fisheries were up by 7.94 per cent, 3.48 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.46 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering and Oman Cement were down by 1.92 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively.
Services Index gained 1.20 per cent to close at 2,435.88 points. Muscat Gases, National Gas, Omantel, Oman Education & Training Inv. and OIFC were up by 8.17 per cent, 5.81 per cent, 5.74 per cent, 4.59 per cent and 3.16 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating Company and Ooredoo were down by 0.45 per cent and 0.37 per cent respectively.
