Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher on Tuesday and closed at 4485.43 points, up by 0.72 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 615.34 points, down by 0.22 per cent. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Renaissance Services, up by 4.06 per cent. Tuesday’s top loser was Al Batinah Power, which closed lower by 2.48 per cent.
A total number of 619 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.65 million with more than 8.96 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 12 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR150,000 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR31,000, while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR182,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.34 per cent to close at 6902.11 points. Bank Muscat, Bank Nizwa, Al Anwar Holding, Bank Sohar and Bank Dhofar were up by 2.53 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 0.86 per cent, 0.79 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Al Madina Takaful, Muscat Finance, Gulf Investment Services and Al Sharqia Investment Holding were down by 2.38 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 1.06 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.02 per cent to close at 5581.12 points. There were no gainers on Tuesday. Raysut Cement and Oman Cement were down by 1.8 per cent and 1.68 per cent respectively.
Services Index gained 0.39 per cent to close at 2448.80 points. Renaissance Services, Omantel, Ooredoo and Almaha Petroleum Products were up by 4.06 per cent, 2.4 per cent, 0.76 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Power, OIFC, Al Suwadi Power and Muscat Gases were down 2.48 per cent, 2 per cent,1.71 per cent and 1.46 per cent respectively.
