Oman's population crosses 4.3 million

Muscat: The total population of the Sultanate at the end of March 2016 stood at 4,397,790 comprising a rise by 0.4% compared to February 2016.
At 2,408,542 Omanis constitute 55% of the total population whereas the total number of expatriates stood at 1,989,248 comprising an increase by 12,113 or 45% compared to February 2016.
The latest statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the majority of the Sultanate's population concentrates in the Governorate of Muscat of which population increased by 0.6% to 1,382,035.
Muscat is the only governorate where the number of expatriates is more than the Omanis as expatriates reached 881,226 or 63.2% compared to 500,809 Omanis, comprising 36.2% of the total population in the Governorate of Muscat.
