Downtrend continues on Muscat bourse

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower to close at 4515.67 points, down by 0.43 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 611.23 points, down by 0.37 per cent. Dhofar Generating Company was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Dhofar Generating Company, up by 2.44 per cent. while the top loser was Vision Insurance which closed lower by 2.70 per cent.
A total number of 375 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.25 million with more than 6.58 million shares changing hands. Out of 28 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 14 declined and 8 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors remained as net sellers for OMR332,331 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR332,062, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR664,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.23 per cent to close at 7015.38 points. Al Madina Investment, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, Bank Dhofar and Bank Muscat were up by 2.44 per cent, 2.02 per cent, 0.63 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively. Vision Insurance, National Bank Of Oman, Alizz Islamic Bank, Gulf Invest Services Holding and Al Madina Takaful were down by 2.7 per cent, 1.63 per cent, 1.16 per cent, 1.06 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.10 per cent to close at 5527.45 points. Oman Fisheries was up by 1.16 per cent. Galfar Engineering and Al Jazeera Steel Products were down by 1.87 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively.
Services Index lost 0.39 per cent to close at 2472.79 points. Almaha Petroleum Products was up by 1.33 per cent. Ooredoo, Al Batinah Power, Omantel, Dhofar Generating Company and OIFC were down by 2.56 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.
