Football: Majan Champions lift Dean’s Cup

MUSCAT: The second annual Dean’s Cup football competition was recently held at Majan University College (MUC), watched by Guest of Honour Dr Mohammed Hussein from the Faculty of Business Management, Khamis Al Ghafri, Director of Student Services, and groups of students and staff of the college.
The final match, played on the hard sports area near the Faculty of English Studies building, resulted in a 3-1 victory for the Majan’s Champions team over their rivals the Majan Old Stars. The winning team’s first two goals were scored by Abdulrahman Al Alawi, with the third being added by the team captain, Waddah Al Sayabi.
At the end of the tournament, Dr Mohammed Hussein thanked the organizing committee, the referees, the participating teams, and everyone else who had helped to make the event such a success. The Top Scorer trophy was presented to Wael Al Balushi of the Santos F7 team, and the Best Player trophy was awarded to Muammar Al-Ouraimi (Majan Champions Team).
Majan University College has a strong belief in developing each student’s potential in all areas, and this includes an emphasis on sport. Many MUC students have gone on to display their sporting skills at a national, regional or international level. For example, five MUC students were selected to represent the Oman Universities football team, following the participation of the Majan College team in a recent tournament organised by the University Sports Committee of Oman.
