Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower to close at 4451.65 points, down by 0.20 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 604.13 points, down by 0.27 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Bank Nizwa, up by 2.38 per cent, while the top loser was Al Madina Investment which closed lower by 5 per cent.
A total number of 620 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.92 million with more than 12.11 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 18 declined and 9 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR381,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR162,000, while Omani investors remained as net buyers for OMR543,000 worth of shares
Financial Index lost 0.13 per cent to close at 6915.68 points. Bank Nizwa, Muscat Finance, Al Sharqia Investment Holding and Bank Sohar went up by 2.38 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 2.22 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Gulf Invest Services Holding, Ahli Bank, Al Batinah Dev. Inv. Holding and Al Madina Takaful were down 5 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 1.27 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.76 per cent to close at 5,390.45 points. National Biscuit Industries up by 1.33 per cent. Oman Cement, Almaha Ceramics, Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 2.94 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 1.3 per cent and 1.25 per cent respectively.
Services Index lost 0.30 per cent to close at 2,428.89 points. Sohar Power and Ooredoo were up by 1.77 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, OIFC, Omantel and Phoenix Power were down by 2.61 per cent, 1.75 per cent, 1.1 per cent, 0.95 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.
