MUSCAT: The MSM30 index ended lower to close at 4420.67 points, down by 0.18 per cent. MSM Shariah Index closed at 602.12 points, up by 0.02 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was National Pharmaceutical Industries, up by 57.50 per cent while the top loser was Al Batinah Power which closed lower by 4.17 per cent.
A total number of 544 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.29 million with more than 13.06 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded stocks, 3 advanced, 8 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR247,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR38,000 while GCC and Arab investors remained as net sellers for OMR285,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.04 per cent at 6908.37 points. Al Madina Takaful was up by 2.13 per cent. Al Anwar Holding and Al Batinah Dev. Inv. Holding were down by 1.94 per cent and 1.14 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.02 per cent to close at 5,334.82 points. National Pharmaceutical Industries and Oman Fisheries were up by 57.5 per cent and 2.7 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles and Almaha Ceramics were down by 1.27 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively.
Services Index lost 0.45 per cent to close at 2,396.31 points. There were no gainers. Al Batinah Power, Omantel, Phoenix Power and Al Suwadi Power were down by 4.17 per cent, 1.46 per cent, 0.89 per cent and 0.87 per cent repectively.
