Sayyid Hamid appointed executive director of corporate governance centre

Muscat: Oman Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability (OCCGS) has announced the appointment of Sayyid Hamid Sultan Al Busaidy as executive director of the centre from January 1.
Sayyid Hamid is a proficient executive who supported the establishment stages of Oman Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability and played a key role in the establishment process. He is a leader in corporate governance in Oman and the Middle East with vast experience.
Al Busaidy was acting director of the centre since its establishment by decision of the Council of Ministers in 2009 until the issuance of Royal Decree No. 30/2015 which promulgated the establishment of Oman Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability as independent entity from Capital Market Authority (CMA). He presided over the committee constituted by CMA to issue the new Code of Corporate Governance.
Al Busaidy has MBA from the University of Cardiff in 2005 and his thesis was on the views of directors of public companies on the Code of Corporate Governance issued by CMA in 2002. He has vast experience in the capital market sector and assumed various leading roles. He has leadership and personal skills, has good relations with local and international institutions and represented the Sultanate in a number of regional and international forums.
Oman Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability was established under Royal Decree 30/2015 as the first specialised centre in Oman to disseminate the corporate governance concept and culture among all companies and institutions in the Sultanate.
