Muscat: Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) recently signed a long-term land lease agreement with Salalah Port Services to develop a new marine bunkering and product trading terminal in the Sultanate’s southernmost governorate.
The medium-size terminal will help expand omanoil’s bunker and trading capabilities, providing ships calling at the Port of Salalah with fueling services by end of 2016.
“This agreement is a major step forward, one that reflects our ambition of expanding our presence throughout Oman and enhances our ability to serve the shipping industry. Through our partnership with Salalah Port Services, we will be able to establish a footprint inside the port and efficiently serve our bunker customers. This terminal will also open the door for us to explore new trading opportunities,” said Omar Ahmed Qatan, chief executive officer of omanoil.
“Upon completion, this new facility will further strengthening the governorate of Dhofar’s position as a key logistics hub and center of maritime trade, promising even greater economic and social benefits,” he added.
This terminal project by the company forms part of its business diversification drive and will further contribute to the national economic agenda.
Since its inception, omanoil has worked with key players to further develop the Sultanate’s infrastructure, national workforce, and make major contributions to the economy.
